Course Reflection Narrative:
This course was an introduction for me to the Spanish major at CSUMB. I had heard some things and read online about what the major consisted of but this course solidified my understanding of what the major would entail and what would be required of me. This course explained what would be accomplished over the next two years and how to prepare for our Capstone projects, graduation, and also give resources on other options after the completion of the degree.
In this class, we developed an Individual Learning Plan or ILP. This helped us shape the next semesters and plan what type of classes to take and when to take them. Although there were not a lot of assignments to turn in for a grade during this course, the ILP (Individual Learning Plan) was very beneficial in regards to planning out the semesters with an adviser and also helped me determine what classes I could substitute when I studied abroad. In this class, we also dedicated some time to build our e-portfolio and complete a backbone of what it would look like so later on we can go back and fill in necessary information. Another thing that we worked on was a personal statement piece and an up to date resume that reflected our skills and attributes in the best way possible.
Some of the areas that I wish to develop more are learning how all the classes that I will take in the future can help me in determining a Capstone idea. The next steps that I plan to take is to further my progress on the e-portfolio, update my resume often, and meet with my academic advisors to make adequate changes to the ILP when necessary.
